Back when COSTCO mostly merchandized brown boxes in store, we suggested an idea that became a catalyst in big box retailers all moving to large format full color packaging. Turning a boring cardboard box collecting dust on the shelves into 55 inches of a vibrant, full color in-store billboard for VIZIO. And it worked brilliantly. #PurpleCow moment.
The simple shift from a brown box to full color oversize packaging not only grabbed consumer's attention, it helped launch VIZIO into their hearts and minds, and ultimately their homes. Today, almost every major big box retailer like COSTCO, Best Buy and Target display these beautiful oversized packaging billboards in store all thanks to a little idea from a challenger brand and agency.
